The popular Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series reveals the release date for a new upcoming movie, currently titled Aang: The Last Airbender.

The popular Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series just dropped major news on the upcoming animated movie, currently with a working title of Aang: The Last Airbender, which has now confirmed a release date of Oct. 10, 2025.

Aang: The Last Airbender, the new animated movie by Paramount and Nickelodeon, will mark the first of the three standalone A:TLA animated films. Via a press release, Aang: The Last Airbender will be directed by Lauren Montgomery and William Mata, the former of whom storyboarded numerous episodes in the original TV series. The initial voice cast has been confirmed as including Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten and Román Zaragoza, with Bautista set to play an unnamed villain.

Avatar: The Last Airbender's Original Creators Return for the Upcoming Animated Film

The news was revealed during Paramount's slate presentation at this year's CinemaCon. Fans worried over the original creators' involvement in the Aang: The Last Airbender movie are in luck; creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have been confirmed as executive producers of the series alongside Eric Coleman, and they are joined by fellow producers Latifa Ouaou and Maryann Garger.

2024 marks a massive year for the Avatar franchise. The Netflix live-action scored massive viewership figures, opening with over 20 million views in its first weekend and 40 million in its first two weeks. Unsurprisingly, Netflix wasted no time in confirming a second and third season, dropping a hilarious video of how the cast were first informed. The Avatar franchise, already receiving several books, games, and spinoff series, also launched a webtoon, adapting the Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel The Promise. The series has 5 chapters as of April 11, 2024, with new chapters dropping every Saturday.

Aang: The Last Airbender continues the world of Avatar, which first premiered on Nickelodeon. It describes the series: "With the Fire Nation on the brink of global domination, a young girl and her brother discover a 12-year old Airbender who reveals himself as the Avatar. Will this irresponsible kid accept his destiny in time to save the world?"
